National
Avenue Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ)
With a kick-off early Saturday morning, July 17, a group of Disciples volunteers joined together to begin construction on a 3-bedroom house for Jeannie Newton and her daughters, Brandy and Ayrel. Brandy is fourteen and will start high school this fall. Ayrel is eight and will be starting third grade.
Mother Teresa said, "Our work should not be superficial but deep. We must reach the heart. To reach the heart we must do -- love is proved in deeds. People are attracted more to what they see than by what they hear."
The volunteers on this Habitat project wish Jeannie, Brandy and Ayrel a happy and secure future in their new home. May we all recognize God's love as we strive to help others.
